Laurie Cardoza Moore Appointed To The Tennessee Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission.

Oct 11, 2022

Laurie Cardoza Moore, founder and president of Proclaiming Justice to The Nations, has been re-appointed to another three-year term of service with the Tennessee Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission.

Cardoza Moore was first appointed to the commission in 2021. Her current term of service will conclude June 2025.

In her role, she will be involved in reviewing and recommending textbooks, instructional materials and library books for Tennessee public school systems.

“I am humbled by this opportunity to influence the education of our students, which is so greatly impacted by the textbooks used in our public schools,” Cardoza Moore said. “When I consider the potential damage of Marxist educational philosophy, influenced by CRT and other destructive forces, I am committed to stay alert on behalf of parents, grandparents and the citizens of Tennessee who care deeply about their kids and the truth.”

When she was a homeschooling mother of five, Cardoza Moore confronted the Williamson County School Board over antisemitic content she found in her children’s textbooks. Textbook publishing giant Pearson Publishing changed course and eventually removed the offensive content from the books.

In addition to its role evaluating textbooks for public schools, the commission also offers direction for public and charter school library collections. The commission will also determine the appropriateness of any school library books that are officially questioned by students, parents or school employees.

As a member of the commission, Cardoza Moore will review science, wellness, and fine arts curriculum in 2023, and social studies and world languages curriculum in 2024.

“I am confident that you will perform the duties of office with the high standard of professionalism, dedication, and integrity that the citizens of Tennessee deserve and expect of their public servants,” commented Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton in a personal letter to Cardoza Moore.

“Despite the erroneous objections of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist fundraising operation in the history of the United States, as well as the opposition of other Marxist groups, my reappointment moved forward,” Cardoza Moore said. “I especially would like to thank Speaker Sexton for his support and encouragement. It gives me hope for the future of our Tennessee schoolchildren that they are in a state where they will learn the truth about Israel, the Holocaust and America’s great Judeo-Christian heritage.”
