San Diego, Ca. This year’s DIRECTV Holiday Bowl will be played on December 27 for the first time at Snapdragon Stadium, located in Mission Valley, on the former site of SDCCU Stadium that was torn down in 2021. Kickoff is set for 5 pm. The last two Holiday Bowl games were played downtown at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, during construction of Snapdragon Stadium. The 45th version of this year’s game will feature a former PAC 12 college football team meeting a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The teams will be announced on Sunday December 8th. This year’s game will be broadcast live on FOX TV and can be heard on SIRIUS XM Radio. It was a victorious USC 47 defeating Louisville 28 in last seasons Holiday Bowl game. Snapdragon Stadium is the home tadium for San Diego State University Football and seats 35,000 fans. Game tickets are available at holidaybowl.com.
Mark Neville was named Executive Director of the Holiday Bowl in 2015 and today serves as CEO of Sports San Diego. Since 1978, the Holiday Bowl has played a significant role in San Diegos tourism industry. The game has been responsible for generating a billion dollars for the region. There will be 36 college bowl games played this holiday season.
