Gary Sinise and the Gary Sinise Foundation recently blessed Washington firefighters with 500 care packages after the first responders battled the largest blazes in state history last month.

The actor and his organization partnered with American Airlines to hand out the food packages to the firefighters of Douglas Okanogan Fire District 15.

“Your firefighters have a lot to be proud of as they protected life and property from a fire that burned hundreds of thousands of acres in your beautiful part of our country. Thanks also for being so welcoming to the #AATeam. We really appreciate it,” American Airlines Randy Stillinger wrote in a statement addressed to the fire department on social media.

The Douglas Okanogan Fire District 15 plans to distribute packages to firefighters across the region over the next few weeks.

Sinise, known for his roles in FOREST GUMP and, more recently, I STILL BELIEVE, is an award-winning actor, musician, and activist who regularly supports servicemen and women.

“Each step in his journey from self to service has contributed to where the Foundation is today and its mission to honor our nation’s defenders, veterans, first-responders, their families, and those in need. We are all Grateful Americans, and as Gary reminds us, ‘While we can never do enough for our defenders and their loved ones, we can always do a little more,’ the Gary Sinise Foundation posted on Facebook.
