Los Angeles, Ca. Posting a final round of four under par 67 on Saturday, Brooke Henderson, won the 2021 Hugel-Air Premia LA Open. It was Hendersons 10th LPGA career victory and her first win since June of 2019. Henderson, 23, shot 16 under par in four tournament rounds at Wilshire Country Club. Jessica Kordas tee shot stopped just four feet from the pin as she birdied the 18th hole to finish in sole second place, one stroke behind. Henderson pulled her tee shot and had a challenging pitch from below the par three 18th green. Henderson hit a beautiful bump and run shot and was able to save par, making a two foot putt for the one stroke victory. Henderson started the day four strokes behind Korda who finished the day shooting one over par 72.
Henderson received help this week from her sister Brittany who is her caddie. ” I was just really happy with how I went out today”, said Henderson. “I was a lot of shots back, but I just said to myself keep the same game plan and try to make birdies.” Henderson birdied the par four 11th hole to take the tournament lead and holed out from 70 feet with a birdie chip- in off the green at the 12th hole. Later, Henderson made a six foot birdie putt at the short par four 14th hole to increase her lead. After Henderson bogeyed the par four 17th hole, she held a two stroke lead heading to the final hole.
Sunday was Hendersons second consecutive four under par 67, matching her same score in the third round that put her in the final pairing on Saturday. The 1.5 Million Hugel-Air Premia LA Open was broadcast live daily on the Golf Channel.
