NRB to Host Celebration Marking 250 Years of American Independence at International Christian Media Convention

The world’s largest association of Christian communicators convenes thousands of faith leaders to reflect on the Judeo-Christian foundations of the American republic.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NRB) – The National Religious Broadcasters Association (NRB), the world’s leading association of Christian communicators, announced today that it will host a special celebration commemorating 250 years since the founding of the United States during the NRB 2026 International Christian Media Convention. In partnership with the White House, the event will take place Thursday evening, February 19, 2026, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville.

The following quote is attributable to Troy A. Miller, NRB president & CEO:

“The Founding Fathers recognized that liberty and virtue are inseparable, and that virtue itself is a Christian principle that promotes a flourishing society. From the Declaration of Independence to the writings of Washington, Adams, and others, America’s founding vision is unmistakably grounded in a Judeo-Christian understanding of human dignity, responsibility, and freedom. There is no better setting to reflect on this heritage than a gathering of Christian communicators which includes men and women who shape ideas, inform the public, and steward truth in the modern public square.”

This commemorative gathering, featuring senior White House officials and national leaders, will reaffirm the biblical principles that informed America’s founding and continue to undergird a free and ordered society.

Today’s American republic rests on the foundational truth, articulated in the Declaration of Independence, that citizens are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” This affirms that liberty does not originate with government authority but with Divine authorship, establishing a moral framework for self-government, human dignity, and national independence that has served as a guiding model for free societies throughout the world.

Reflecting on what would be required to sustain such a republic, President George Washington observed:

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness. …The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. …Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.”

Patrick Henry similarly emphasized the role of virtue and faith in public life:

“Righteousness alone can exalt America as a nation. …The great pillars of all government and social life [are] virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone, that renders us invincible.”

And John Adams’ words remain strikingly relevant today:

“We have no Government armed with Power capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by…morality and Religion. …Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Held as part of the NRB 2026 International Christian Media Convention, the celebration will bring together thousands of Christian broadcasters, media professionals, ministry leaders, and influencers from across the country and around the world. Taking place February 17–20, the annual convention is the premier gathering of Christian communicators shaping faith, culture, and public discourse.

Speakers and program details for this commemorative event will be announced in the weeks ahead. To register, visit NRBConvention.org.
