NRB Welcomes Nic Anderson as Vice President of Public Policy

Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NRB) — The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), the world’s largest association of Christian communicators, is pleased to announce the addition of Nic Anderson as vice president of public policy.

NRB’s advocacy efforts regularly involve direct engagement with legislators, regulators, and executive branch officials. These efforts are most effective when built on strong relationships—knowing the individuals who serve in these offices, understanding the issues that matter to them, and ensuring they are informed about the concerns and priorities of NRB and its members.

As vice president of public policy, Anderson’s primary responsibility is to cultivate these relationships and represent NRB before government officials and agencies. In addition, he will keep NRB leadership and members informed on key legislative and regulatory developments that impact Christian broadcasters and communicators.

The following statement is attributable to Troy A. Miller, NRB president & CEO:

“We are thrilled to welcome Nic Anderson to the NRB team. His extensive experience in government affairs and deep understanding of the faith-based media landscape will be invaluable as we advocate for the freedoms and interests of Christian broadcasters nationwide.”

The following statement is attributable to Michael Farris, NRB general counsel:

“Nic’s addition strengthens NRB’s ability to engage effectively with policymakers and regulators. His proven expertise and commitment will help ensure that the voices of religious broadcasters are heard and protected.”

The following statement is attributable to Nic Anderson:

“In today’s media and regulatory environment, it’s never been more important for faith-based broadcasters to have a seat at the policy table. I’m grateful to help lead NRB’s efforts while continuing my work with Salem Media Group. This dual role places me at the intersection of faith-based media and public policy—ensuring Christian voices remain strong, protected, and accessible. NRB and Salem have shared a meaningful partnership for decades, and I’m excited to build on that foundation.”

Nic Anderson also currently serves as vice president of government affairs for Salem Media Group and will continue in this capacity while also serving NRB in a dual role. Salem Media Group has been a longstanding member of NRB, with closely aligned legislative and regulatory priorities.

Anderson was born and raised in the Twin Cities and proudly calls himself a lifelong “radio geek.” While other kids were listening to music, Anderson was tuning in to news, political talk shows, and play-by-play sports broadcasts—drawn to the legendary voices behind the mic.

Anderson launched his broadcasting career in 2000 at WCCO-AM/CBS Radio in Minneapolis, Minn., where he specialized in developing partnerships with local and regional businesses. He also helped lead sports marketing campaigns for the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild, and Golden Gopher Athletics.

In 2008, he joined Salem Media Group – Twin Cities as general sales manager and was promoted in 2013 to general manager/market manager. In that role, he provided strategic oversight of all aspects of the local market, including programming, engineering, promotions, and financial operations. He also ensured compliance with FCC regulations for Salem’s four Twin Cities stations: AM 1280 The Patriot, AM 980 The Mission, The Biz 1440, and Freedom 1570.

In 2021, Anderson was named director of government affairs for Salem Media Group, a role he initially held alongside his GM responsibilities. In 2024, he was promoted full-time to vice president of government affairs, transitioning out of day-to-day market oversight to focus fully on leading Salem’s public policy and advocacy efforts. In this capacity, he represents the company before Congress, federal agencies, state legislatures, and industry partners, while directing Salem’s legislative strategy nationwide.

He also serves as a liaison to organizations such as the NAB, NRB, and state broadcast associations, and co-leads Salem’s political action committee, SALPAC. Anderson’s contributions to broadcasting and advocacy have earned him several industry honors, including Radio Ink Magazine’s “30 Under 40,” Love Worth Finding’s “Christian Radio Station of the Year,” and the Minnesota Broadcasters Association’s “Borgen Spirit Award.”

Anderson and his wife Amy, married 24 years, are the proud parents of two adult daughters and share their home with a lovable German shepherd. They live on the Mississippi River in Champlin, Minn., where they enjoy boating, outdoor activities, cooking, and experimenting with recipes on their pellet smoker. The Andersons are active members of their local church and Christian school community, where both daughters attended.
