King Wouldn’t Condone Violence

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream in which people would be judged by the content of their character rather than by the color of their skin. That is a great goal. Those who demonstrate peacefully are allies of King’s goal. Those who demonstrate violently are enemies of King’s goal.

People’s words and actions reveal their characters. People who break windows, set fire to the stores of innocent business owners and attack and beat journalists and/or police officers just because those individuals are white are revealing the content of their characters.

King’s words reveal that he would judge and condemn all such violent “demonstrators.”
