Stein Eriksen – A Legacy

Stein Eriksen – A Legacy

Legacy
/ noun /

Character is how you act when nobody is watching. Legacy is your character viewed over an arc of a lifetime. “Ski like Stein” was both a passionate call to the mountains for a generation and an inspirational, but unattainable, goal. A skier of singular style and artful grace, Stein Eriksen was more than the sum of his gifts to the sport he loved. He wrote his, and skiing’s, legacy every day on the slopes.

A Deer Valley Resort icon, he will be greatly missed.
Stein Eriksen 1927 – 2015

In 2001, then Utah Governor Mike Leavitt, first proclaimed Stein’s birthday as Stein Eriksen Day. Last year we lost a friend and this year Deer Valley Resort, Stein Eriksen Lodge and the town of Park City celebrated his life and legacy with a plaque dedication ceremony, located just off the Glitretind Restaurant, near the three iconic deer statues and Olympic torch. The resort restaurants also served Norwegian specialties that day.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
