Executive Artistic Director, Sean Boyd, shared “It is so exciting to be entering our 15th Season at Trinity! Such a milestone for us, and we are grateful to have created so much community getting here. With our Grown Up Stage (GUS), we offer a season of professional plays and musicals geared to make us all think, laugh, explore and discover together. This Season will provide a gamut of opportunities to laugh with Sarah Ruhl’s imaginative comedy, Dead Man’s Cell Phone and Selina Fillinger’s brilliant political farce, POTUS. We are equally excited to explore Ibsen’s thought-provoking A Doll’s House which is such a gripping and surprisingly modern drama as well as Jason Robert Brown’s Songs For A New World which is such a powerful arrangement of songs exploring life and love and designed to engage our next generation of musical theatre audiences.”

DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE by Sarah Ruhl

Directed by Sean Boyd

October 16th – 25th, 2026

An incessantly ringing cell phone in a quiet café. A stranger at the next table who has had enough. And a dead man – with a lot of loose ends. So begins Dead Man’s Cell Phone, a wildly imaginative new comedy by MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient and Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl. A work about how we memorialize the dead – and how that remembering changes us – it is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption, and the need to connect in a technologically obsessed world.

Songs for a New World

Music & Lyrics: Jason Robert Brown

Directed by Mashun Tucker

July 9th – 18th, 2027

It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.

Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams… and a soulless marriage. With a small, powerhouse multi-ethnic cast and a driving, exquisitely crafted score that runs the gamut of today’s popular music, Songs for a New World is a great way to bring the next generation into the theatre.
