WE MUST UNITE THE USA AND THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION, URGES “PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL PRAYER BREAKFAST” LEADER REV. MERRIE TURNER

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 8, 2016) — Rev. Merrie Turner requests to speak for a few minutes to the audiences and viewers of radio talk show hosts, television news and news commentary programs, and podcasts, about the severe epidemic of political and social conflict and fights harming our nation.

Rev. Turner declares: “In President Trump’s home of South Florida, a bill board reminds us of the warning of Jesus Christ: “IF A HOUSE IS DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF, THAT HOUSE CANNOT STAND. Mark 3:25.”

Yet now “The United States of America is being torn badly by vicious and extreme conflict, even continuing political assassinations, actual and attempted. It is no longer a question of preserving this nation but an apparent intention to actively tear this country down in favor of a socialist, secular dictatorship.”

Every four years, as the nation swears in a President of the United States, the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast brings together political and religious leaders from around the world to commit the term of office of the President into God’s hands and ask for God’s blessing upon our fragile land and world. Since its founding in 1993 by Dr. Ruth Ward Heflin, the prayer breakfast trusts in God for His blessing and leadership, not any particular political party. The ministry trusts in God, not a political label.

Yet “Today, the dominant news is of a civil war within those who love the United States and its values.” Current leader Turner explains: “I was reminded this morning of President Abraham Lincoln’s second inauguration address, in which he warned us of the need for unity.”

“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to the see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan – to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.”

Turner laments: “In current times, a political leader Charlie Kirk was assassinated and roughly half the country actually celebrated. Multiple attempts have been made on our President’s life. American politics have often been rambunctious. But now violence for political gain is openly acceptable and embraced as normal or even desirable. Our current President is slandered with the most despicable lies as if that has always been normal. Fighting is now eagerly with relish and abandon.”
