Dear WND Reader, “You’re fired!” That’s what happened recently to Karen Siegemund, a math teacher at a private K-12 school located in southern California called the Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles.
But why? •Did she strike a child in her classroom or use vulgar language in front of her class? NO. •Did she engage in "inappropriate conduct" with one of her students? NO. •Or was it just a matter of poor performance — that her students were scoring badly on standardized tests used by colleges and universities to award enrollment to qualified candidates? Again the answer is NO.
Rather, as WND reported last week, Dr. Karen Siegemund — a highly qualified teacher who began her teaching career 10 years ago after working in the field of underwater acoustics to develop and test new sonar systems for the U.S. Navy during the Cold War — was fired for being a conservative.
More to the point, Dr. Siegemund was fired for serving as president of the American Freedom Alliance and for being an outspoken defender of Western Civilization.
As school administrators told her when they let her know they wouldn’t be renewing her contract to teach at their school in the coming year:
. . .[O]ne of your speeches as the leader of the American Freedom Alliance states: “Each of us here, believes in the unparalleled force for good that is Western Civilization, that is OUR heritage, whether we were born here or not.”
She was fired just for being an America-loving conservative and daring to talk about it.
I cite this example of vicious radical-left discrimination and persecution of conservatives in our education system because this has been happening to conservative school teachers for DECADES.
Conservative Christian teachers with seniority are being targeted for termination if they voice their conservative opinions with others even off the job or, God forbid, share their views with their students.
For new teachers, the same rule applies. If you are a principled, patriotic conservative who won’t help the socialist left force their radical agenda down the throats of your students, you need not apply.
Why am I telling you this?
I’m telling you this because WorldNetDaily is in the business of championing the values of Western Civilization — the love of country, patriotism, self-government, the Bill of Rights, the vital role that faith plays not just in our history but in the current health and happiness of our country, and so much more.
We do this in the stories we publish, in the young audiences we work to attract, and in the original investigative reporting we conduct to give people — especially our nation’s kids — the real news done right.
But we can’t do this alone.
I make it a point to let readers like you know that we deliver the news to you free of charge. There are no paywalls or required subscriptions or renewals you need to contend with. What we do rely on are the voluntary contributions we receive from good people like you.
If every person reading this message contributes just $10, $20, $30 or more at this time, we can keep our team of experienced, pro-American, pro-Constitution journalists on the job reporting the REAL NEWS (not the ubiquitous fake kind) that Americans so desperately need right now.
So, will you help us?
Will you take a moment to make a contribution in any amount to support WND at this time?
I hope your answer is “YES,” because at a time when conservative teachers are being fired just because they refuse to remain quiet or apologize for the traditional Christian values we share, our nation’s young people must have a place where they can go to get a healthy dose of truth and reality about the world we live in — from a trusted publication like WND.
Thank you and may God bless you.
David Kupelian Vice President and Managing Editor WND
