For 25 years, the San Diego International Film Festival has celebrated extraordinary artists whose work has made an impact on film and entertainment.
This year, we are proud to honor Viola Davis alongside two newly announced honorees at our 25th Anniversary Night of the Stars Tribute.
Meet this year’s honorees.
Presented with the Peck family, the Gregory Peck Award for Cinematic Excellence honors artists who have made an extraordinary contribution to film and carries special meaning in La Jolla, where Gregory Peck grew up and maintained deep ties to the community. This year, that legacy continues with Viola Davis. One of the few performers to achieve EGOT status, Viola Davis has earned an Academy Award, Emmy, Grammy and multiple Tony Awards. Named to the TIME 100, she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2025 Golden Globes and has been inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. An acclaimed actor, producer, author, activist and philanthropist, Davis now adds the Gregory Peck Award for Cinematic Excellence to her extraordinary list of honors.Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino earned the Oscar, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for her acclaimed performance in Mighty Aphrodite. Her extensive career includes Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Summer of Sam, Mimic, Quiz Show, Beautiful Girls, Sound of Freedom, Shining Vale, Hollywood and American Crime Story: Impeachment. She also earned Golden Globe nominations for Human Trafficking and Norma Jean & Marilyn, which brought her an Emmy nomination.One of today’s leading stand-up comedians, Iliza Shlesinger has released seven comedy specials, including 2025’s A Different Animal, following six Netflix specials. An accomplished writer, actor, producer and two-time author, she wrote and starred in Good on Paper and has appeared in The Righteous Gemstones, Spenser Confidential and Instant Family. She also wrote and stars in CHASING SUMMER, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and will be screened here at the San Diego International Film Festival on Thursday and Sunday.
